Abstract
The drift flux analysis, which was first introduced by Wallis (1962), has been used to esmte bubble size in flotation columns (Dobby et al., 1988; Yianatos et al., 1988). In re-examining, it was found that the approach of Dobby et al. and Yianatos et al. yields identical results. In the original paper of Yianatos, however, due to computational errors the reported results were not in agreement with the Dobby's results. Simplification of Yianatos' approach by Xu and Finch (1990) underestimates the bubble size up to 19%. Nevertheless the compensation of errors made the authors believe that the simplified version of Yianatos' approach was as accurate as the original version.
